Wouldn’t it be nice if you could wake up in the morning and see yourself in the mirror as youthful as you were years ago?. Eyes are an important part of the body not only because of their function but because they reflect a lot of our personality. They are one of the first things people see in the human face. Eyelids are part of our eyes and as time passes their skin looses elasticity resulting in folds in the upper and lower eyelids. Dropping eyelids make the face look tired. An eye lid surgery also known as blepharoplasty removes excess skin and fat around the eyes.

The first step in a blepharoplasty is to administer anesthesia which can be general or intravenous sedation. When doing an eyelid surgery on the upper eyelid, incisions are made within the natural crease of the upper eyelid and/or on the wrinkles at the corner of the yes. For lower eyelids, incisions are made below the lash line, allowing the scars to be on the natural structures of the eyelid region which are very easy to cover. Following the incisions the excess fat and sagging skin are removed and incisions are closed with conventional stitches. The eyelid surgery lasts from 1 to 2 hours.

Once the procedure is finished the cosmetic surgeon will use a cream on the eye to avoid humidity on the treated area and will place a sterile tape to support the eyelids.

The tape will be removed 3 to 5 days after the surgery and support for lower eyelids will be removed after a week. You can use cold compresses to help with pain and swelling after the surgery but you can not put ice without covering it directly on the eyes.

Results of a natural looking eyelid surgery are evident once swelling has disappeared. You will see and fill the area treated smoother and well defined and you will have a face appearance more youthful and attractive.
